Dotonbori is known to be a popular shopping, entertainment and food destination in Osaka, Japan. Hundreds of neon lights and mechanized signs lit up Dotonbori at night including the famous Glico Running Man sign and Kani Doraku Crab sign.
Every time we visit Dotonbori, we will definitely drop by Osaka Ohsho for some handmade gyoza. Look for the big gyoza sign which is the restaurant landmark and you will not missed it. The restaurant serves ramen and beer too which goes nice with the gyoza. Both my little and big guys love eating here!
Takoyaki is another must try Osaka’s food – ball shaped snack made of a wheat flour-based batter with a small piece of octopus inside and cooked in a special molded pan. It is eaten fresh with Takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise and dried bonito flakes. Takoyaki is arguably one of the best well-known Osaka fast food and people of all ages love it. My little one is not so adventurous to try it though, knowing there is a tiny piece of octopus in it makes him shakes his head every time we ask him to try.You will always discover something new at Dotonbori as there are many food stalls, restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and many more along the busy streets to explore!
Within walking distance is the Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade which is Osaka’s premiere shopping center. There are several shops that sell pre-loved branded handbags! The Shinsaibashi area is unique as it combines chain retail stores and trendy boutiques with expensive department stores and top designer fashion labels. A shopping heaven for all especially the ladies.
